This week we learned about arctic animals! Take a peek at our week!

Monday: Today we learned about the snowy owl and the polar bear. The kids submitted a note on Seesaw to show what they learned. If you have not connected with your child's portfolio, please let me know and I can send home the sign up again! We also reviewed for our upcoming math benchmark.

Wednesday: Today we learned about the walrus and the puffin. Ask your child to tell you what they learned about!

Thursday: Today we learned about the killer whale and the caribou. We compared all of the animals that we have learned about so far.

Friday: Today we learned about the arctic fox. We also chose our favorite arctic animal and wrote why it was our favorite!

I absolutely LOVE all of the Arctic animal projects that were returned today! Thank you SO much for taking the time to help your child complete this!

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (Week of 1-16-17)

Here is a peek at our week:

We watched a Reading Rainbow video about the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The kids shared what they learned on Seesaw! If you have not connected to your child's portfolio on Seesaw, check it out! You will be able to view all of the work they upload in their folder! We also reviewed in Math and practiced Read to Self and answering comprehension questions.

Today we read a picture book about the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The kids wrote about their own dreams and we made this awesome bulletin board!

We also made this awesome anchor chart!

Reminders:
Our arctic animal projects are due Friday January 27!

Snow MUCH Fun! (Week of 1-9-17)

I hope that each of you had an amazing break spending time with your loved ones and relaxing! We are back in the swing of things and will finish the year strong! My favorite part of the school year is January-May! This is when students usually make the most growth and their "light bulbs" really turn on! Here is a peek at our week!

Monday: Today we welcomed the 2 hour delay! :) We read a non-fiction book about snow and answered comprehension questions!

Tuesday: We read a fiction book about snow and practiced RAP when answering our comprehension question. (RAP) restate the question, answer the question, prove it!

Wednesday: Today we reviewed balancing equations. This is a tough concept for the kiddos! Please practice at home! Here is a sample problem: 4 + 3 = ___ +2

Thursday: Today we reviewed graphing by making a class graph and answering questions about it. We also read a story called: Snowball Trouble and answered comprehension questions independently!

Friday: Today we had an assembly and received our "One School, One Book" book: Charlotte's Web! We celebrated our hard work this week by enjoying some chips and juice!

Please note: Homework for the next two weeks will be to work on your Arctic Animals project. The kids need to complete an informational writing on their animal. If you choose, you may also create a poster telling about your animal! Thank you so much for your help with this!
