Dinosaur Week
This week we learned about dinosaurs! Take a peek at our week!
Monday: Today we read the book, Dinosaurs, Dinosaurs. We practiced answering comprehension questions on Seesaw after we finished reading! We also practiced missing addends today for morning work! During Math, we played Scrabble addition. We used Scrabble letters to make CVC words and then added up the values.
Tuesday: Today we read the book: Dinosaur Bob. We each wrote about one of the adventures that Bob had with the Lazardo's. We also practice number bonds in Math and had our first day of First Grade Camp!
Wednesday: Today we read the story: When Dinosaurs Came With Everything. We answered a comprehension question on Seesaw.
Thursday: Today we did a close read on Dinosaurs and color coded our answers!

Valentine's Week and 100th Day of School
This week we celebrated Valentine's Day and the 100th day of school! Take a peek into our week!!
Monday: We read the story: Roses are Pink, Your Feet Really Stink. We also did a comprehension activity after we read the story. In Math, we worked on equations with missing addends,
Tuesday: We celebrated Valentine's Day and our 100th day today! Some of the fun things we did were: a candy hearts graph, we read 100 books, we decorated a 100th day banner, and we ate some sweet treats!! Here are some pictures from our fun!
Wednesday: After all of the craziness of Valentine's Day/100th day, we took our second Reading assessment! The kids did an amazing job answering the comprehension questions.
Thursday: We had our second math test today! Missing addends was a struggle for most of us, so Mrs. Williams gave the class a challenge! We are going to work on missing addends night and day until our WHOLE class can solve 5 problems with 100% accuracy!
Friday: Today we read two stories about weather. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and The Day it Rained Hearts. We made a class book and compared the two stories. We also ate all of the leftover treats for our Valentine's party!

Dental Health Week ( Week of 2-6-17)
This week was all about our TEETH! Take a peek at our week to learn what we did!
Monday: We read a story called The Tooth Book by Dr. Seuss and answered a comprehension questions on Seesaw. We also measure various things in the room using cubes.
Tuesday: Today we read the story: Fabulous Farrah and the Sugar Bugs. We learned the importance of brushing our teeth! We continued with non-standard measurement in Math.
Wednesday: Today we read another story about teeth. It was called: What do the Fairies Do with The Teeth? We also read a non-fiction book about animal teeth.
Thursday: Today we read the book: What if you Had Animal Teeth? We chose our favorite animal and made these crafts: 3
Friday: Today we read the story: Measuring Penny. We used dog bones to measure various things from the story. Here are some pictures.
Our Charlotte's Web spiders turned out AMAZING! Here they are!!!1

Groundhog Week
I cannot believe that this week begins Quarter 3 for us! Where has the year gone?!! This week we learned all about Groundhog Day and groundhogs! Take a peek at our week!!
Monday: Today we learned about ai/ay by reading a story about the A twins. We also learned facts about groundhogs. In Math, we began learning about non-standard measurement and discussed the vocabulary words: longer and shorter.
Tuesday: Today we read a story called: Groundhog Gets a Say and answered comprehension questions on Seesaw. Once again, if you are not connected, please let me know! You can view some awesome work samples from your child there! In Math, we practiced measuring things with cubes and worked on measurement story problems.
Wednesday: Today we took our first ELA and Math assessments for the quarter. Look for these to come home soon in progress report folders!
Thursday: Today we read a Groundhog day reading passage and made this class graph! We also watched to see if the groundhog saw his shadow or not! We ate these cute liitle snacks!
Friday: Today we implemented our school wide LDC about Charlotte's Web! The kids had a chance to go to each first grade classroom and learn about an animal from the book. Take a look at some of the fun we had!
